Professor Yang Huayong Was Elected as An Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering!

The Chinese Academy of Engineering announced today that the academician'sco-option in 2013 was successfully completed. A total of 51 newacademicians were elected, and Professor Yang Huayong, the State KeyLaboratory of Fluid Power and Mechatronic Systems, was elected. Atpresent, the total number of academicians of the Chinese Academy ofEngineering, including 258 senior academicians, has reached 807.Among the newly elected academicians, 21 were from higher educationinstitutions, accounting for 41.2%; 14 were from the institute,accounting for 27.5%; 11 were from enterprises, accounting for 21.5%;and 5 were from management, accounting for 9.8%.

ProfessorYang Huayong is an expert in the field of fluid transmission andcontrol. For 30 years, he has been engaged in the research ofelectrohydraulic control theory, basic components and systemdevelopment, and the research and development and engineering of keytechnologies for TBM and hydraulic elevators. At the same time, astable team of production, education and research has beenaccumulated and cultivated, forming a virtuous circle of“theoretical-component-system-equipment-application”chain, and embarking on a successful road of independent research anddevelopment, and major equipment production urgently needed fornational construction.

ProfessorYang Huayong has won 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 4 provincialand ministerial awards, published 3 monographs, published 52 SCIpapers, 191 EI papers, and 129 invention patents. He has establishedthe theory of motion control, compliance design and energy-savingresearch of major equipment electro-hydraulic systems. Thetheoretical and technical achievements in the fields of TBMelectro-hydraulic control technology and elevator electro-hydrauliccontrol system technology have been highly recognized by academia andindustry. His research results have been widely applied in 12 largeenterprises such as China Railway Tunnel Group, China Railway TunnelEquipment Manufacturing, Shanghai Tunnel Shares, Hangzhou BoilerGroup, Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator, and Xizi Elevator, and haveachieved remarkable economic and social benefits.

ProfessorYang Huayong led the organization to demonstrate China's TBMdevelopment strategy and consolidate relevant scientific andtechnical issues. Under the support of the State Fund, 863 and 973,the company successfully completed the practical application,breaking through the key technologies of all types workingconditions. This has supported the four domestic shield leadingenterprises such as Shanghai Tunnel, China Railway Tunnel and ChinaRailway Equipment. The main technical indicators such as landdeformation, failure rate, and axis accuracy are superior to those ofEurope and the United States, making China enter the ranks ofadvanced countries with shield technology in Europe and the UnitedStates.

ProfessorYang Huayong has been the director of the National Electro-HydraulicControl Engineering Technology Research Center since theestablishment of the project in 2001. He passed the 2003 acceptanceand the 2011 evaluation with excellent results. He led the team tothe practice, and was good at refining the theory of commonality fromcomplex engineering practice, and guided the resolution ofengineering problems through theoretical and technical research. He was the chief scientist of the 973 project in 2007 and 2012 respectively and became the head of the innovation team of theMinistry of Education in 2008. While carrying out academic researchand technological innovation, he is also committed to talentcultivation and laboratory construction. At present, more than 30doctors and post-doctoral students have graduated, 9 of whom havebecome technical leaders of Shanghai Tunnel and China RailwayEquipment and Xizi Elevator.
