From September 14th to September 21st, 2015, Wang Silin, an undergraduate student from the School of Mechanical Engineering, went to Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea as a member of the Zhejiang UniversityModel United Nations Association and attended the SixthROK-China-Japan Youth Forum. The forum is organized by the UnitedNations Association of Korea, the United Nations Association ofChina, the United Nations Association of Japan, the main venue set in Gyeongju Kamaduoer hotel, attended by a three Model United NationsAssociation of the selection of 72 student representatives were from36 universities like Zhejiang University, Renmin University of China,Waseda University, Keio University, Busan National University and HanDong University. As an academic social event, the ROK-China-JapanYouth Forum is an important platform for strengthening youth exchanges among the three countries. It aims to deepen mutual understanding among the youths of the three countries through communication and cooperation and promote East Asia’s regional harmony and prosperity. The forum includes mocking UN conferences, youth seminars, and social events and cultural tours organized by the organizers.
During the mock United Nations conference held from September 15th to 16th, delegates acted as diplomats from various countries to simulate there are deliberation and decision-making process. The meeting modeled two committees under the General Assembly. The first committee was entitled "Strengthening cooperation between the United Nations and regional organizations in accordance with Chapter VIII of the UNCharter." While the Second Committee's topic is " The program of the humanitarian assistance mechanism to improve the response to the new global humanitarian crisis".
WangSilin, a South African representative in the First Committee, played an active role in promoting the conference process. He showed the excellent academic ability and good diplomatic style of ZhejiangUniversity, and with his unique insights, he was awarded the outstanding representative of the organizing committee. The youth seminar held from September 16th to 17th is the second activity of this forum. The agenda for the first day of the youth representatives of the three countries to address climate change on two issues in the history of Japan and South Korea in East Asia group discussions and presentations show round-table discussions and dialogue to the next part of the challenge reply to states conducted.
Cultural Night held on the evening of September 17th provided a good opportunity for delegates to show their cultural customs and enhance their mutual friendship. The Chinese national song and dance led the atmosphere of the party and won the praise of the representatives and staff of the three countries. The city tour on September 18 also gave delegates a taste of the rich cultural heritage and unique historical charm of the ancient capital of Gyeongju. The delegates were deeply impressed by the long history of exchanges and cultural origins between the three countries embodied in the monuments.
On the afternoon of September 18th, the six-day youth forum was closed in Gyeonggi, the ancient capital of Silla. The representatives of the three countries have deepened their sincere friendship and strengthened their determination to promote peace and stability in the three countries and issued aspirations for the healthy and stable development of the relations between the three countries. Hope that east Asia has a bright future, and more outstanding students in our school can participate in similar activities, take up the responsibility of society, and win glory for the school.
