The research work of the laboratory is concentrated on Fluid Power Transmission and Control, Applied Fluid Mechanics, Mechatronic System Control and Signal Processing, Mechatronic System Integration and Intelligentization and Mechatronic System and Equipment Design and Manufacture. The faculties in SKLoFP include some top-level leading professors and many young researchers coming from various education and research backgrounds including Electro-hydraulics, Manufacturing, Electronics and Computer Science. There are over seven hundred temporary researchers such as post doctors, visiting scholars and graduate students working in SKLoFP.
Prof.(Dr.-Ing.) Lu Yongxiang, the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science as well as the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Technology and Engineering, is the academic leader of the laboratory. A series of advanced test rigs, measuring instruments and computer network are also equipped in SKLoFP.
Hundreds of important research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, the Major State Basic Research Development Program of China (973 Program), the State Key Research Projects, The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), Important National Science & Technology Specific Projects and the State Priority Research Projects have been completed in recent years. Some of these projects have been rewarded with the Second Class and the Third Class of the State Invention Prize, the First Class of the State Science & Technology Progress Prize. The Laboratory now becomes the most important R&D center of fluid power and mechatronic systems and also technical training center in China.
