At 19:00 on December 31, 2015, a fishing boat in Qiandao Lake caused a rollover due to overload of the cargo. Two of the crew fell into the water and survived while their boss, unfortunately, sank into the bottom of the lake. The location of the victims was finally found next to a fish club in Qiandao Lake.

On 2nd January 2016, Zheda Yukong Underwater Rescue Team received an urgent notice from the Blue Sky Rescue Team, telling that there was an emergency in a fish-fishing area in Qiandao Lake. At this time, the Zhejiang Blue Sky Rescue Team contact with the family and knew about the incident. The location of the incident was on the south side of ofQiandao Lake. According to local fishermen, the water depth is more than 50 meters, the lake is cold and dangerous. At a depth of more than 50 meters, it was dangerous for divers to search and rescue. It not only threatens the health and life of the diver but also has very low efficiency. At this time, the commander of the Blue SkyRescue immediately contacted the person in charge of the ZhejiangYukong Underwater Rescue Team specializing in deep water rescue to explain the situation to him. The person in charge of the underwater rescue team immediately carried the deep-water underwater camera to the scene after analyzing and formulating the situation.

On the morning of 3rd January, Yukong Underwater Rescue Team arrived at the scene of the incident. After the boat arrived at the location identified by the survivor, the underwater camera was released for search.

The difference between the deep-water underwater camera is that it comes with a high-power light source. The camera lens has high sensitivity to illumination and large body weight, which has a strong resistance to underwater undercurrent. The camera is lowered by one person, and the operation is simple and convenient. Compared with the diver, there are fewer hidden dangers to health and safety.

During the search, the camera successively found the wrecked ship, but no trace of the victims was found. Finally, in the search and rescue direction along with the ship's overloaded cargo, the body of the victim was finally found at 18:18 on January 3, and the Zhejiang University's Yuhuanunderwater rescue team assisted the Blue Sky Rescue to transport the remains of the victims back to the family.

Among the many rescue operations, mountain rescue and deep water rescue are two difficult points inChina's rescue today. Deepwater rescue is more difficult due to technical difficulties and imperfect equipment. There are more and more inland lakes, reservoirs and artificial lakes with a water depth of more than 50-100 meters, and there are more and more dangerous situations. The original intention of the Zhejiang University YuhuanUnderwater Rescue Team is to rely on the scientific and technological resources of Zhejiang University and the experience of talents to research and develop deep-water rescue equipment with water depths of50 to 1000 meters, and to train personnel using underwater professional equipment. It also provides technical support and professional protection for government rescue and local rescue.
