August 29, 2016 - October 6, 2016, the National High Technology Research and Development Program - marine technology Seafloor Observatory NetworkTest System, led by the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, also Zhejiang University, ZTT sea cableCo., Tongji University, Ocean University of China, TsinghuaUniversity participate in the construction of the South China sea seafloor observatory network test systems.
The system has been successfully put in the South China Sea, and deep-set network connection test, submarine continued observation and other construction tasks have been finished. For now, the data have been continuously transmitted to the shore-based servers and can be transmitted to the rest of the world via shore-based servers. It provides strong support for marine scientific research and marine safety monitoring in China.
Under supports from a national high-tech research and development program, the National Ministry of Education 985 University Support Program, and provincial funded projects over 15 years, the research team ofHOME (Human-machine and Ocean Mechatronic Engineering team) dedicated connection technology of deep-sea equipment group network. For now, it has successfully carried out the ShengShan sea trial, the MontereyBay network sea trials, ZhaiRuoshan Island sea trials. In 2014, it successfully completed ZhaiRuoShan high-voltage power (10kV@10kW)seafloor Observatory network demonstration system and has been running successfully ever since. On this basis, the South China sea trials succeed in the sea trials. During this trial, the main goals include: providing long-term effective 10kV@10kW power support and 1Gbandwidth communication link for marine observation equipment, providing external expansion interface with multiple voltage levels and multiple communication protocols, allowing all ocean observation equipment to be used at any time by the deep sea. This is the first time in China to complete the construction of the longest distance(about 150 km) submarine observation network in the deep sea area over 1700 meters, which indicates that this seabed observation technology has reached the international advanced level, and China has the ability to build a larger range of ocean observing network group.
Deep-sea network connection technology developed by Zhejiang University has real application since 2015, and Zhejiang University along with Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Group and Zhongtian sea cable companies and other multi-joint venture founded Zhongtian Technology MarineSystem Co., and has successfully developed a new product “Underwaterobservation network water quality monitoring system”.
